cast of characters

Ever wondered who the people in my blog are? Wouldn't you like to see what they look like in real life? Of course you do! And now you can. Introducing the cast of characters (and things and places) in Lisa's Cambridge life.

This is Paul, my husband. We met at work, fell in love, and he makes me a very happy girl. He's absolutely fantastic, he can cook, he smells good, and he likes my accent. I'm so smitten. The story of our engagement in Rome can be seen here, our wedding photos are here, and our honeymoon photos are here.

This is Jack, our brilliant baby boy, born February 22, 2005. To read about our life before, during, and after pregnancy, click here.

This is the furry kid in our family, Jasper The Dog. He's a beautiful black Labrador Retriever, born May 22, 2003. For writing and pictures about Jasper, click here.

This is the front of our house. It's my very first experience as a homeowner (Paul's second) and it's fab. For more pictures of the house and our adventures in DIY, click here. For pictures of the town where we live, click here.

These are our good friends Russell (who was Paul's best man) and Debbie. They are the nicest people ever and we've had a lot of fun times together. They are the proud parents of a spazzy but loveable cocker spaniel called Jake.

This is Jack, and yes, that's a big hook through his ear. Jack's my Kiwi mate who was the main reason I got my first UK job. He's a really good bloke, even if he does have a lot of piercings and tattoos.

This is Heather, Jack's wife and a really good blokette, and their cutie pie daughter Rebecca. Heather is one of the few people I can talk to about Montreal here, and has a fondness for waving rubber ducks at Lemon Jelly concerts. Don't ever buy her a laundry basket.

This is Chris, who is the campest straight man I know. C'mon, he sang "It's Raining Men" while perched on a bike rack - how gay is that? He is one of the funniest people I know, plus I like him a lot 'cos he used to drive me around everywhere.

This is Melanie, Chris' girlfriend who is rather camera shy. I like her a lot - she's a real broad and wouldn't have any qualms about telling you to feck off if you were being an idiot. I like that in a person.

This is Micky, fast asleep at his birthday party last year. There are so many catchphrases you can associate with this guy, and all of them still make me laugh. I think he loves food even more than I do.

This is Susan, Micky's wife (bless her) and a really nice person. She's got to be nice - she's put up with being the only sober one at a few of our shindigs (being the designated driver must really suck) and she still likes us.

This is Tim, my ex-colleague and the happiest man on earth. He's got a gorgeous wife, adorable kids, and sends me entertaining emails periodically. Don't feed this man gluten.

This is Gary, his lovely wife Ruth, and their beautiful little girl Naomi. Gary is a workmate and good friend who's 45 minutes younger than me, knows more Simpsons quotes than I do, and shares our love of pies. He's also a good friend of Paul's and was the main reason why Paul asked me out on our first date. So if things go horribly wrong, it's all Gary's fault. No pressure.

Last, but not least, this is my Mom and Dad. I see them once a year now, and I miss them a lot. My Mom likes to send me care packages because she thinks we don't get food in England. My ex-workmates love her for her chocolate.
